Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking techniques. Taekwondo incorporates the abrupt linear movements of Japanese karate as well as the flowing circular patterns indicative of Chinese kung-fu, however we teach to kick properly and effectively for both sport and self defense. The word taekwondo translates to Hand-foot-way or literally means "the art of kicking and punching". At Laselva MMA we incorporate taekwondo as well as another Korean art called Hapkido which incorporates joint manipulation for self defense and we also teach practical self defense methods using kicks, punches, elbow strikes, take downs, and many other techniques specifically designed to render an attacker helpless.
